Even though it it’s mostly remixes, Kirby Canvas Curse has a very unique soundtrack thanks to the instrumentation. Very hardcore techno-ish at points too. If it wasn’t constrained by the DS hardware, these tracks would be heavy af.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Ophidian remix the Drawcia tracks, since his style suits them.
When people praise Distorted Children, but shit on RoughSketch’s subsequent releases, I honestly question what they liked about that album in the first place.
Lets address the elephant in the room; every album since DC follows its template in some manner.
There’s at least one DD Nakata, Rakutensai, and Aikapin track on each album. There’s also at least one versus track, one emotional track, one rock-type track, one gothic track, one quirky/upbeat track, one track recycled/remastered from a previous release, etc etc you get the picture.
There’s definitely been tweaks to the formula along the years, but it still DC at its core.
However…before anyone counters with arguments that involve rehashing, none of these track styles were new for RoughSketch when he dropped DC either. For example, he did gothic style at least four times before Grimm dropped. It doesn’t negate it from being a good track tho. For me to make that kind of silly argument, I’d have to go at Muscari too lol.
People forget that Precious was an indie film. Lee Daniels was only able to pay Monique $50K for it since he had no studio backing him up. Monique did that man a favor because she loved the script so much and did her role for the $50k. It wasn’t until Oprah and Lee brokered a deal with Lionsgate for the film rights, did they start calling Monique to fly to Cannes and fly to New York and LA to go promote the film. Monique said nah, I’m home with my family. I did my part and my deal is with Lee Daniels. Not Lionsgate. That’s why nobody could sue her cuz Lee had no base to. Her story has been the same since she told it the first time and Lee Daniels and Oprah are trash for treating that woman that way.
